Mikes Thoughts

Friday in Battambang

Today after the required morning stop where my wife likes going for coffee, it’s my turn. So I find my way to Lab Coffee. A peaceful interlude up some stairs with such comfy chairs and a balcony. This is some hidden little corner of Battambang on a Friday. I guess I thrive when I find places hidden in plain sight.

Lab Coffee touches some nerve. Some desire to just sink into the comfort and do less before i do some more. This is some half hidden life that it takes stairs to reach. I could say it reminds me of some coffee places in Hanoi but comparisons pale when I have this now.

The relaxation here is palpable. It’s like sinking into this chair is also sinking into life in Cambodia. Taking more than the rush of moments. I never liked going that way wherever. Sometimes feel I could come to Battambang and just stay until I say when.

It’s this slower life. This sense of life becoming a walk. Not a run. And it works for me this Friday.
