ends and starts
For the last few days, I’ve felt this need to change some things out. I wanted to find this simpler and easier way to write. Being an old retired guy living in Cambodia, life has been a simple thing for me. My wife ensures I really have no tasks or requirements besides making her happy. It turns out making her smile and laugh are easy things. Then we manage to get away every so often which helps. Hearing her tell me thanks in Khmer seems to satisfy whatever itch I have.
In truth our lives in Siem Reap becomes a very simple process day to day, life to life. Perhaps I felt blogging was lagging behind or I just grew tired of the whole GitHub and render or netlify or whatever process. I think the old writing tired me out as well. I felt this need to simply do a new.
Doing a new
Turns out to be easy. What I wanted I think I got with bearblog so I subscribed for a year so I don’t get the monthly things.
The new daily journal is no different than the old. I’ve tried new things with it and nothing satisfies anything close to a daily markdown file that an apple shortcut prepares for me each day.
Now it’s a new day. Coffee and some writing and walking are on cue. I simply must walk and then stop and have coffee each day somewhere. Where I walk is not so important as the doing of it. It seems it lessens some inner and even outer pain. When I miss a day, this old body lets me know.
So a few new things. Maybe a little photo of an old place I simply love to visit when I can. Some Angkor Wat for you.

I have an annual pass which I really need to use more. Some people would say that it’s the thing Siem Reap is known for but really there is so much more. The city has this wonderful mix for me of some walkable streets, coffee culture, food sometimes, and just a quality of daily life which I truly love.
so there it is
A first post. A new thing. A start.
