coffee notes and special days
Along with walking and writing more, there’s coffee. Every day is a day to just go for me. Siem Reap is an adventure in coffee culture and finding new and visiting those I want more of.
Like today. I ended up having to go downtown today so a coffee first to lighten my path. Give me a place to sit and look out the big windows.
Going today means buying flowers for my wife. It’s our anniversary. Or the day we chose so I sit here and think back on my wife while I write these coffee notes.

She has put up with me, got mad, forgave me, cried and laughed. Maybe this is the essence of Khmer women. She has been dedicated to making my life better and to ensure like my daughter once said that I should be living my best life.
For years as I ponder the time along with my gradually diminishing coffee, we have gone. We have stayed. We have eaten and drank when we wished.
Years then to now
So many coffee notes. Many times I’ve felt the need to simply go. She has told me many times it’s my job to walk and have coffee. She will ask if I have money. Will cook for me to make sure the food I eat is the best I could have. From then to now and right now with my coffee I’m free to play back memories. Meeting her in a little bar. Her going home with me that first night. From that point on we never were apart.
The marriage vow “through sickness and health” has been real with her. She suffers through things that have no cure. Meanwhile I walk and I lost over 100 pounds going. I had always expected I would be the one to need the doctor. Instead it’s her life and the long time she went without. She could not afford the doctor or regular drugs for her blood pressure issues.
Now it’s different yet again. Times come along. Some of my family back in America fall away. Coffee thoughts and this note continues. Like the love for that funny and different Khmer woman that has done so much for me by just being there.
Happy anniversary babes. You are the best thing the Kingdom of Wonder has done for me.
